ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved changes to the policy to confer Pakistan Civil Awards on civilians for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.

Sources in the cabinet division have revealed that, according to the revised policy, civil awards will no longer be bestowed for insignificant or ordinary services.

Furthermore, the cabinet division has issued directives stipulating that no organisation or federal ministry may recommend any individual without merit or bypass the cabinet division in the process.

Under the new guidelines, a scrutiny committee will ensure that each nominee for the award meets the requisite standards of excellence.

A comprehensive report will be compiled, meticulously examining the contributions and accomplishments of each recommended individual.

All recommendations, along with their respective reports, will be forwarded to the Cabinet division, which has requested nominations from ministries and departments by April 30. The recipients of civil awards will be announced on August 14.
