Sindh police chief Riffat Mukhtar Raja has ordered accelerating the ongoing actions against illegal immigrants. He has also ordered revoking the temporary permits of the immigrants involved in crimes.

The inspector general of police (IGP) issued these orders during a meeting he chaired at the Central Police Office, Karachi, to discuss the current situation of peace and security. The meeting was briefed about incidents of street crime, killings and injuries during robberies, as well as the measures taken to prevent them and the police performance.

The meeting was attended by the Karachi police chief; the zonal police chiefs; the Crime Branch, Headquarters, Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) and Investigation Karachi chiefs; and the operations and administration AIGs.

Separate briefings were given by the DIGs of the East, West and South zones, as well as the Crime Branch, Investigation and CIA DIGs, according to the Sindh police spokesperson. Detailed discussions took place during the meeting on actions against street criminals, other criminals, new criminal elements, drug users, and those released on bail and incarcerated in jails.

The IGP emphasised making efforts to crack down on street criminals and other criminals effectively. “Keep the criminals’ data up-to-date. Analyse the crime data and use it skilfully,” he told the DIGs. “Utilising crime data skilfully will prove effective against crimes. Ensure the success of the enforcement and protection measures while keeping the crime analysis in view.”

He also directed them to take swifter action against illegal immigrants, ordering them to cancel the temporary permits of the immigrants who are involved in crimes. He stressed ensuring strict supervision of the prisoners and those released on bail.
