Three men were taken into custody on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a Brazilian tourist who was travelling through India's distant east on a motorbike with her husband, Barron's reported.

On their route to Nepal, Fernanda and Vicente, who share their motorbike travelogues with over 140,000 Instagram followers, were brutally attacked on Friday while travelling through the Dumka district of Jharkhand state.

According to some sources, they stopped in Dumka to spend the night in a tent.

In videos posted to Instagram, the couple appeared with swollen, purple bruises on their faces and recounted in Spanish what had happened to them, Daily Beast reported.

"Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone," Fernanda said in the video. "Seven men have raped me; they have beaten us and robbed us." She added that the attackers didn’t steal many things, however, "because what they wanted was to rape me."

The woman was able to reach a police patrol van at around 11:00 pm and was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police officer Pitamber Singh Kherwar.

Kherwar said authorities were searching for more suspects and had already arrested three people.

According to local sources, the Brazilian woman is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital in Dumka, and an inquiry is in progress.
