The body of an elderly woman was found in a residential building in the Saddar area on Friday. Police suspect that the woman was killed during a robbery bid. Meanwhile, four people were injured in firing incidents across the city.

The elderly woman’s body was found in a residential apartment in Saddar within the limits of the Aram Bagh police station. Police retrieved the body after neighbours informed them about her death. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Karachi where the deceased woman was identified as 70-year-old Sabira, wife of Abdul Aziz.

Police said the deceased woman had no children and her husband had passed away. She lived alone in the apartment while her brother and sister lived nearby. Witnesses reported that the deceased had been gagged with a cloth indicating that she might have suffocated with the cloth.

The house was also ransacked. The police said the body was two to three days old and showed signs of decomposition. The neighbours said they had not seen anyone visit the woman’s apartment for two to three days. However, they mentioned that her brother and sister were responsible for her meals.
