Three brothers killed, two injured as car rams into people sleeping on footpath

Three brothers lost their lives and two other persons were injured after a car driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into people sleeping on a footpath on Wednesday.

The tragic incident took place near Nagan Chowrangi within the limits of the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station where a speeding car crashed into people sleeping on the footpath, resulting in the tragic death of three brothers and injuring two others.

Ambulances and police rushed to the scene and transported the victims to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to police, the deceased and injured persons belonged to the same family and had come from Hyderabad to Karachi a few days ago. The deceased brothers were identified as 18-year-old Ashok, son of Gopi Chand, 22-year-old Bali and Ram, and the injured included Sitaram, and Lali Chand.

Citing preliminary investigations, police said two cars were racing when the driver of one of them lost control near the Nagan Chowrangi flyover due to high speed and rammed into the people sleeping on the footpath.

The deceased brothers had set up a fruit cart near the site of the accident. After the accident, the driver abandoned the car and fled. A case has been registered and efforts were under way to apprehend the suspect.
