Rawalpindi: In light of bad governance for over two years, Punjab Chief Minister contender Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to change the whole bureaucracy from Rawalpindi with the sole objective of improving governance in the district, well-placed sources told ‘The News’ here on Friday.

The decision has been taken due to public complaints as dozens of written complaints against mismanagement and corruption in all public sector departments have been filed and sent to the Chief Minister Punjab office.

Muhammad Abdul Aamer Khattak has assumed charge as the new commissioner of the Rawalpindi Division. Saif Anwar Jappa who was an additional charge of Commissioner has returned to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will give special attention to the residents of Rawalpindi because she was showing strong anger at the bad governance and corruption in all public sector departments. The sources also said that Maryam Aurangzeb and former Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan will look after all issues here in Rawalpindi in the coming days. The elected members will never deal transfer and postings of government officers and she will never bear any kind of favouritism in this regard, the sources said.

The sources also said that the Punjab government has finalized lists of government officers who had been posted here in Rawalpindi for over three to five years. All deputation officers will go back to their parents' departments otherwise strict action will be taken against them, the sources claimed. The sources also informed that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed FIA and NAB to investigate the properties of all government officers who were working in Rawalpindi for over three to five years.

The residents of Rawalpindi have been facing record mismanagement, lawlessness, inflation, favoritism, and corruption in government departments but higher authorities are reluctant to take any kind of action against it and see the whole drama with blind eyes. It seems all government officers are playing like a ‘puppet’ in the hands of local political leadership of different political parties.

Talking to ‘The News’ people of Rawalpindi said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is the last ray of hope for them to resolve their genuine issues. “We are facing ‘man-made’ (artificial) inflation ratio because all shopkeepers are looting the public according to their wish. They know that there is no strong price control mechanism therefore they are selling all items at exorbitant prices,” people bemoaned.
