Akshay Kumar once revealed that one of his dangerous stunts almost took the actor’s life.
Recalling his time on sets of 2009 starrer Blue, the Bell Bottomactor spilled beans on his near-death experience.
Speaking to The Times of India, the Hera Pheri actor noted that since he had been shooting without oxygen tanks, he could not control his body movement underwater.
Kumar revealed he was surrounded by sharks after hitting his head underwater, and ended up losing a lot of blood in the process.
He shared, “I hit my head on a sunken ship and got injured 150 feet underwater, and the blood oozed out. I was in a daze. I could’ve been dead. I could’ve been eaten by one of the sharks.”
Akshay recalled that everyone on the set panicked, noting: “there were 40-45 sharks around me.”
“Two sharks actually smelled the blood and started coming my way. One of the sharks chased me all the way to the top of the ocean as I swam back to safety,” he said.
The OMG 2alum noted that Hollywood’s renowned underwater cinematography specialist Pete Zuccarini, known for his work in Pirates of the Caribbean, was also present at the time.
Akshay admitted that looking back at his near-death experience gives him “chills,” adding: “I realised sharks are not a threat to you until they feel threatened.”
Makers of the film Blue, claimed it was the ‘most expensive film ever made,’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif, Zayed Khan among others.
