She told journalists that the PPP also had concerns and objections to the election results as the party had been fighting its case in this regard through its election cell working under senior party leader Taj Haider.

Marri said that her party had concerns about irregularities committed on the general election polling day. She informed media persons that the PPP would continue to play its due role in promoting national unity and solidarity in the country.

She said the PPP didn’t want political instability to affect Pakistan at such a critical juncture.

She said the democratic process of formation of governments in the centre and provinces should go ahead as usual after the polls. She lamented that candidates of the PPP had frequently come under attack during election campaigns.

She mentioned that the PPP had shown restraint and didn’t react to the anti-PPP statements given by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Attaullah Tarar. “We don’t believe in spreading hatred or discord,” said the PPP leader.

Marri further stated that the PPP was always pleased when the people of Pakistan aspired to bring change to the country through the voting process. She said that the PPP had secured a greater number of seats in the current elections based on its public service and its genuine connection with the masses.

The PPP leader believed that the peaceful conduct of the February 8 general elections was a major national victory amid the serious threat of terrorism. “Pakistan needs stability at this moment after ending disunity,” she said.

She praised the politics of former president Asif Ali Zardari aimed at promoting political reconciliation in the country.

She said the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) resorting to protest against rigging in the polls had failed to present any proof to prove its allegations that elections were not fairly held in Sindh.

Also speaking on the occasion, PPP leader and former Sindh minister Jam Khan Shoro said the GDA leaders hadn’t come out to lead the election campaign of their candidates.

He said PPP leaders Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari had led the PPP’s poll campaign all over the country.
