Famous Urdu novel ‘Adhay Adhoray Khwab’ written by renowned educationist Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui was launched here at a fair, arranged by the National Book Foundation.
The writer presented a story of an ideal teacher while painting contemporary learning environment through his literary skilful writing. He linked education with society while highlighting characters of teacher and a student, with some beautiful description and phrases, this was observed by eminent writers and poets Professor Fateha Muhammad Malik, Muhamad Hameed Shahid and Dr. Sughra Sadaf while commenting on the novel.
The writer emphasised the need of keeping up human values in the educational pursuits. He also explained what qualities a teacher should possess, while communicating with his students, they said adding the novel gives positive and inspiring feelings to its readers. They congratulated the writer for his outstanding contributions in the educational field, particularly in his position incumbent vice chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shahid Siddique said through his writing he tried to make his humble effort promote good educational practices. It is based on his learning and teaching experience spread over three-decades.
Earlier, while presiding over a seminar on Pakistani languages held at Pak-China Centre, Dr. Siddiqui said languages involved construction of knowledge and ideas and it is the duty of the universities to focus on their promotion through all possible means. Language he said works as powerful tool for perpetuation of ground realities and good human traditions.
A language, he added also serves as identity marker both for an individual and nation levels. Imperialist forces had been using language for persuasion of their illegal rule and hegemony, he added.
The AIOU, he said has undertaken various academic programs to promote Pakistani languages. This is the only university in the country, which provides equal learning facilities in all the regional languages, including Sindhi, Pushto, Balochi and Punjabi.
