LAHORE : Commissioner Lahore M Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting to review the arrangements of upcoming general elections in Lahore division, including four districts - Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana and Kasur on Tuesday.
It was told in the briefing that there are a total of 7,958 polling stations in Lahore division, 4,357 in the provincial capital Lahore, 1,412 in Sheikhupura, 1,519 in Kasur and 670 polling stations in Nankana. In the meeting, arrangements for the transportation and logistics plan for the general elections 2024 were reviewed. Randhawa said that the implementation of the code of conduct of the Election Commission of Pakistan will be ensured in every case. He directed that all arrangements should be completed as per the timelines and SOPs of the Election Commission.
DC Lahore said in the briefing that the transportation plan for all the polling stations of the provincial capital is final. There will be 4,906 polling booths at a total of 1,664 most sensitive polling stations of A category in Lahore Division. Transportation of polling material and other arrangements including security as per SOPs were reviewed in the meeting. Randhawa reviewed the preparations regarding transport provision plan, polling scheme, district control rooms and duty rosters. He directed that all records of transport plan, driver, staff and vehicle records and route plan would be made online. Commissioner Lahore directed to ensure the full implementation of the security plan in collaboration with the district administration, police and related institutions. It was informed in the briefing that 3,551 total vehicles will be required for transportation in Lahore division while 1,695 vehicles will be required in Lahore.
LDA asked to timely resolve applicants’ issues: Commissioner Lahore and DG LDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting regarding LDA's record sifting and the performance of One Window Cell here on Tuesday. In the meeting, Director One Window and Director IT gave briefings on the issues related to sifting and One Window Cell. Randhawa instructed the officers that timely solution to the problems of the citizens who came to One Window Cell was LDA’s first priority.
Randhawa warned the officers that unnecessary delay and objections to the applications of One Window Cell were not tolerable in any case. Any wing where the application was pending without any reason, the director concerned would be responsible for it.
Randhawa said that the pending applications in the sifting cell of Johar Town and other schemes should be resolved, immediately.
