Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Saturday inaugurated a football match at the Kakri Ground in the Lyari area of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said there was immense talent in Lyari when it came to sports, He added that the construction of a sports complex on the Kakri Ground for the people of Lyari would promote sports activities.
Wahab announced that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would continue to promote positive activities for the youth and it had been taking steps for promoting sports in all districts of Karachi by expanding the infrastructure of sports.
He said Lyari was and would remain the stronghold of the PPP. He said there were talented youth in Karachi playing various sports and the city had given the country world-class players in cricket, hockey, snooker, squash and other sports. He said the KMC was aware of its responsibilities and it would take all possible measures for the promotion of sports.
He said playgrounds, stadiums and sports complexes were being improved in different districts of Karachi and youths had been encouraged to engage in positive and healthy activities.
