LAHORE: The Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) of the School Education Department (SED) Punjab under the Transformation in Access Learning Equity and Education Management (TALEEM) Programme organised computer tablets distribution ceremony here on Friday.
The programme is being funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). Caretaker Provincial Education Minister Mansoor Qadir, Secretary of SED, M. Ahsan Waheed, PD PMIU, M. Farooq Rasheed, GPE Country Team Lead, Dr. Hoa Tran Ringrose and Senior Communications Specialist Chantal Rigaud and others attended the event.
Mansoor Qadir and GPE Country Team Lead Dr. Hoa Tran Ringrose distributed tablets to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAs) during the ceremony. This initiative aims to introduce the latest tablets to approximately 33,000 primary schools across Punjab, facilitating teachers in Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The tablets will grant online access to a diverse range of teaching and learning materials for both students and teachers.
The tablet distribution represents a historic milestone for Punjab, promising a transformative impact on the education system in the region. As part of its broader objectives, the TALEEM Programme seeks to enhance access and learning at primary and middle levels, champion equity and inclusive education, introduce digital advancements through the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS), and cultivate a mindset change through effective communication.
