LAHORE:On the directives of Commissioner Lahore & DG LDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between LDA, synergy and PHA on Monday.
Under the agreement, the LDA will take steps in collaboration with PHA and the private sector (synergy) to establish Miyawaki forests in Lahore. In the first phase, the LDA will plant Miyawaki forests in its societies and plantation drive of Miyawaki forests will start from next month.
Under the MoU, the PHA will take care of these forests. On the occasion, Commissioner Lahore & DG LDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the planting of Miyawaki forests will help to reduce smog and environmental pollution in the provincial capital. He said plantation and other measures were being taken for the promotion of greenery in the city.
The commissioner said the LDA was also conducting plantation drive in its schools and schemes under "Plant a Tree" initiative. Additional DG Headquarters Mujtaba Arafat, Additional Commissioner Abdul Salam Arif, CEO Synergy Ambreen Sipra, Director Environment LDA Farhana Mumtaz, Directors Law Abdul Razzaq and Umar Hayat, Deputy Director Admin and Director PHA Jalil Khan were also present on the occasion.
