Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has announced that motorcycle owners in Karachi and the rest of the province whose motorcycles were stolen in snatching or theft incidents during October, November, and December 2023 will receive reconditioned motorcycles.
Speaking at a press conference at the Governor House on Monday, Tessori said those affected by motorcycle theft or snatching will benefit from his new scheme. They should submit their First Information Reports to the Governor House after verification form the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee.
The governor stated that he cannot bear to see the suffering of people who have lost their hard-earned motorcycles to theft or snatching. Many victims simply cannot afford to replace them, he said, adding that to avoid using public funds, he will seek support from philanthropists and charities, including the JDC, to purchase reconditioned motorcycles for the victims.
In the first phase of this scheme, 2,000 people will receive reconditioned motorbikes, he announced, those who lost their mobile phones in snatching incidents will also be given mobile phones in the next stage.
