KHAR: The death toll from the Bajaur bomb blast reached seven as another cop succumbed to his injuries at the hospital in Peshawar on Tuesday.
According to details, constable Wali was under treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for his severe injuries caused by the massive improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on Monday. However, the cop succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. He belonged to Ghakhi area of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur.
Also, a first information report was registered against unidentified terrorists at Counter-Terrorism Department Police Station in Khar.
Initially, the blast had claimed the lives of five cops and left 28 others wounded. Ten of the injured were taken to a hospital in Peshawar due to their precarious condition. However, one of the injured cops, Imran Khan, succumbed to his wounds at hospital in Peshawar, taking the death toll to six.
The van carrying cops was on its way to the field to deploy the personnel for the security of the anti-polio drive when the vehicle was attacked with an IED planted along the roadside. The van was also badly damaged in the explosion. Gloom prevailed in the entire district due to the devastating terror incident.
Almost all political parties halted electioneering while the lawyers also stayed away from the courts.
