ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday repatriated the former director general of health services to his parent department in Balochistan.
Dr Abdul Baseer Khan was serving as officiating DG, Health Services at National Health Services, when he was removed by the federal health secretary on November 22, 2023, while he was along with the federal health minister in London to attend a conference.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHS,R&C), absorption of Dr Abdul Baseer Khan Achakzai, Senior Medical Officer (BS-18), in Balochistan health department, as the Director (BS-19) in the ministry has been withdrawn for being against the rules and procedures, and the officer is accordingly sent back to his parent department with immediate effect.
Following his removal from the post of the director general, Health Services, an inquiry was also launched against Dr Abdul Baseer Khan on the directives of the federal secretary health but its findings were not made public.
