A police constable died in a road traffic accident that took place late on Friday night in the Keamari area. Constable Ghulam Akbar, 53, passed way in the accident near the Abbasi Hotel within the limits of the Jackson police station.
Police said the deceased constable was a resident of Keamari and posted to the Jackson police station. He was returning home after duty hours on Friday night when a speeding vehicle hit him in a street and fled.
He was critically wounded and rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said they were checking for the availability of CCTV cameras so that the vehicle responsible for the accident could be identified and the culprit arrested.
