GUJRANWALA: An anti-terrorism court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 51 PTI leaders involved in May 9 attacks.
After listening to arguments, the court issued non-bailable warrants for PTI leaders including Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib, Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub, Zubair Niazi, Zartaj Gul, Major General (retd) Akram Sahi, Bilal Ejaz, Chaudhry Zafarullah Cheema, Rana Sajid Shaukat, former MNA Shaukat Bhatti, Ahmed Chatha and Usman Saeed Basra. The court also called for a report on December 23 for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Mian Tariq Mehmood has alleged that police are not allowing PTI lawyers to enter the office of returning officers for submission of nomination papers. In a video message, he said: “My lawyers went to submit my nomination papers from NA-77 where police stopped them from entering the office. I am not named in any May 9 case, but we are not being allowed to participate in the election campaign.” He appealed to the higher judiciary to take notice of the situation.
