LAHORE: A big reduction in the price of diesel occurred and inter-city transport fares will also be reduced.
The chief minister has assigned a task to the officials concerned to ensure reduction in the inter-city transport fares in proportion to the reduction in the prices of diesel.
The CM ordered all the deputy commissioners across Punjab to comply with the deadline with regard to carrying out reduction in the prices of fares by tonight. Mohsin Naqvi stated that the benefit in the reduction of petroleum prices should be passed on directly to the people of the province. He asserted to ensure reduction in the inter-city transport fares so as to provide relief to the common man. Mohsin Naqvi ordered to undertake an indiscriminate action against those transporters who refuse to reduce transport fares.
Directs crackdown on encroachments
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has granted a 48-hour relaxation to encroachers and said a strict operation would be launched against them after this time.
The chief minister accorded a formal approval to launch a strict anti-encroachment operation in City during a special meeting held on Sunday. Secretary Transport, CCPO Lahore, Commissioner Lahore, DC, Assistant Commissioners and police officials attended the meeting. It was decided to launch a strict crackdown on encroachments in the City after a relaxation period of 48 hours to voluntarily remove encroachments will be over. The chief minister said a formal operation would be launched tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and ordered undertaking arrests and registration of cases against the violators for establishing encroachments on public places, footpaths, roads, greenbelts and roadsides.
The chief minister directed the assistant commissioners and superintendents of police to undertake their preparation so as to launch an operation in the relevant areas. Mohsin Naqvi asserted that no leniency would be shown in the anti-encroachment campaign, adding that a stern action would also be taken if needed in this regard. The CM emphasised that elimination of encroachments was inevitable in order to remove obstacles to the smooth traffic flow. Mohsin Naqvi maintained that encroachments in most of the places and areas caused traffic congestion.
Takes notice of death of four in Baghbanpura
The chief minister took notice of the death of four persons as a result of a firing incident outside a marriage hall in Baghbanpura. He has sought a report from the IGP in this regard. He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences with the family members of the slain.
The CM directed to ensure provision of justice to the grief-stricken families along with providing best treatment facilities to the injured. He ordered the relevant officials to ensure observance of SOPs in the marriage halls.
