MULTAN: The District Bar Association Multan observed a strike to condemn the controversial decision of the Indian Supreme Court against the violation of Kashmiri people’s rights.

Due to the strike, the lawyers did not appear in the courts and many cases remained postponed.

The lawyers rejected the Indian Supreme Court verdict over Kashmir and said the Indian court had issued a biased verdict. The Multan High Court Bar Association General Secretary Maher Haseeb Qadir, District Bar Association Multan President Syed Waheed Raza Bukhari and General Secretary District Bar Syed Ali Altaf Geelani said: “The decision of the Indian Supreme Court which abrogated Article 370 is a sheer violation of Kashmiris rights.” They expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Earlier, the Indian top court in a recent decision upheld the stripping of special status from the former state of Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Modi’s government in 2019 revoked the Indian Article 370 of the Indian Constitution which prescribed regional autonomy.
