‘Street criminal’ wanted in over 300 cases arrested

District City police have arrested a notorious street criminal with injuries who was wanted by the police in more than 300 cases of street crime.

Officials said 300 street incidents had been traced during interrogation of against Amir Commando alias Toor, who was arrested after he was injured in the Kalakot police station encounter.

Bilal Tension and Naimatullah alias Matta are the main operatives of the group that Amir belongs to, and the three had looted a jewellery shop in the Kharadar police station limits.

While another major incident was also carried out in the limits of the Preedy police station, and two associates of Amir were injured in a City District police encounter and went to jail. Bilal Tension has also been arrested in several cases and is in jail.

Amir can be seen in CCTV footage in the incident of looting the jewellery shop. Amir Commando said he was involved in more than 300 street crime incidents.

The officials said the group consists of eight people, and accomplices have been arrested in encounters, while the search for others is going on. The suspects were involved in dozens of street crime incidents which they committeed from 7am to noon in posh areas of the districts of South, East, West and City.

The suspects used to commit crimes for four days in the week in Nazimabad, Five Star Chowrangi, Surjani Anda Mor, Tariq Road, Clifton, Chakiwara areas, sometimes four people and at other times six people together, in the morning hours.

They used to give 20 to 25 mobile phones every day to sell to the head of the gang, Naimatullah alias Matta. They sold iPhones for Rs50,000 each and other companies’ mobile phones for Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 each.

Investigations also revealed that two operatives of the Nematullah alias Matta group had been arrested in an encounter with AVCC police a few days ago, but had Matta escaped from the spot.
