LAHORE: Continuing its series of completing development projects, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has converted over six kilometers Shahra-e-Nazria Pakistan into a signal-free corridor.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the project on Tuesday while LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed briefed the dignitaries on the project and said the Shahra-e-Nazria Pakistan was converted into a signal-free corridor by constructing seven U-turns. The road was one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares where traffic has long been a problem, he said, adding the corridor was completed in a very short time.
Israr Saeed briefed the chief minister that two U-turns were built earlier on this road and five new protected U-turns were constructed now and opened for traffic. He said that not a single tree was cut during the construction of this project.The CM appreciated the efforts of the LDA team for completing projects ahead of time.
CM orders expediting hospitals’ upgrade
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Mayo Hospital, Services Hospital, and the College of Nursing and inspected the ongoing upgradation works at the Children's Emergency and Main Emergency Block of Mayo Hospital.
The chief minister noted the absence of workers and a lack of progress. Expressing concern, he directed that the upgradation of the Children's Emergency floors should be expedited by implementing a three-shift work schedule.
Moving on to the Emergency Block of Mayo Hospital, he directed the completion of the Emergency Block within the current month.
In a briefing, the chief minister was informed about the rapid progress in installing tiles, wiring, and air conditioning in the Emergency Block. The Secretary of Communication and Works provided an update on the Emergency Block's upgradation.
The CM addressed the Services Hospital Upgradation Project and the College of Nursing. Observing subpar conditions at the College of Nursing, the chief minister announced a Rs90 million plan for its renovation.
He inquired about issues from nursing students who complained about inadequate accommodation facilities. He assured them of improvements and ordered immediate action. He reviewed the upgradation progress of the main building of Services Hospital and directed its completion within the stipulated period.
Felicitates women’s cricket team
Mohsin Naqvi extended congratulations to the Pakistan Women Cricket Team for their triumphant T20 series win against New Zealand. Commending the historic achievement, the chief minister lauded the women players’ performance.
Condemns Peshawar blast
The caretaker CM denounced the explosion near a school on Warsik Road in Peshawar. He extended heartfelt prayers for the swift recovery of all individuals, especially the children, who were injured in the blast.
