Balochistan CM takes notice of forest fire

QUETTA: Caretaker Baloch­istan Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has taken notice of the fire in tehsil Tui Laghara and has sought a report from the relevant authorities.

Directing the DMA and district administration to take immediate emergency measures, he ordered the authorities concerned to immediately shift the human population in the fire-affected area to a safe place and to ensure advance safety measures to prevent the spread of the fire.

“The PDMA and the district administration should use all resources to control the fire under an effective strategy and the forests should be protected from damage,” he added. Zulfiqar Karrar, deputy commissioner of Musakhel district, said that the fire had broken out in the mountain range between Shirani and Musakhel, which is a border area and it had a forest fire last year as well.

The Levies Force has reached the affected hilly area with necessary equipment to control the fire. The DC said that there was no vehicular access to the affected hilly areas, however, the infantry levies reached the hilly area and started taking steps to control the fire.
