Hyderabad: The Sindh Abadgar Ittehad (SAI) has announced a protest on December 6 against what it says artificial shortage of urea and its black marketing in Sindh.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the SAI said that the ongoing black marketing of urea would have a direct impact on the cultivation and production of wheat. It added that the dealer mafia was not ready to listen to anyone in this regard.

The farmers’ body said it would hold a symbolic hunger strike and protest in front of the Hyderabad Press Club on December 6.

Nawab Zubair Talpur of the SAI said in the statement that the Sindh government had failed to stop the fertiliser mafia. Appealing to the Supreme Court and prime minister to take notice of the situation, he said the residents of Sindh should not be left at the mercy of the mafia. The statement said farmers would gather at Fateh Chowk in Hyderabad on December 6, from where they would march towards the press club for the protest.
