Blast in ATC: SC monitoring judge tells police to follow SOP

The apex court’s monitoring judge for anti-terrorism courts directed police on Friday to follow the standard operating procedure and adopt safety measures when producing explosive material before courts.

Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of anti-terrorism courts at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, Justice Amir Hani Muslim directed the authorities concerned to ensure the implementation of the standard operating procedure.

The meeting was attended by SHC monitoring judge of the ATCs, the IGP, the IG prisons, the Sindh prosecutor general and others officers concerned.

The IGP briefed the participants of the meeting about the explosion at an anti-terrorism court during trial proceedings a few days ago when a detonator, brought there as evidence, went off. The monitoring judge directed police to ensure the implementation of SOP while dealing with such explosive substances. The participants of the meeting also reviewed the progress of the construction of anti-terrorism courts at the central jail
