LAHORE: City traffic police have decided to tighten the noose around the teenage drivers. The police have traced 90 such places in the City where teenage drivers drive cars and motorcycles. The police have started taking action against underage drivers by deputing additional wardens at these places. More than 400 cases were registered against underage drivers during the last three days. Around 20,514 fine tickets were issued to underage drivers during the current year. Around 100 additional wardens have been deployed in Defence Phase 6, 7 and 8 with the support of DHA.
Biker hit to death
A bike-rider was killed and two children were injured in a road accident in the Township area on Thursday. The accident occurred due to over-speeding. The bike-rider identified as Asif died on the spot. The injured children identified as Shan and Gulraiz were admitted to hospital. The police arrested the truck driver and impounded his vehicle.
Two bodies found
The bodies of two unidentified persons were found in the Data Darbar police area on Thursday. A 50-year-old man was found dead near Data Darbar Hospital and a 35-year-old man was found near Data Darbar Gate No 6. Police claimed that both the men, yet to be identified, were addicts who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Their bodies were shifted to the mortuary by Edhi ambulance.
11 die in road accidents in 24 hours
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,183 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,268 were injured.
