LAHORE: Mr Thomas Snell, International Admissions & Compliance Manager at Teesside University, UK, has said that the UK remains the study destination for international students.
During his interaction with The News and acclaimed career counsellor and senior educationist Syed Abidi, Mr Thomas said that he and his team interacted with prospective Pakistani students applying to the University and he has found them very hardworking and intelligent.
Mr Thomas, who is on a visit to Pakistan, further said a large number of Pakistani students were pursuing a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Teesside University and his visit to Pakistan was to meet several education partners, agencies and organisations to better understand the Pakistani education system and help as many as possible potential students to study at Teesside. He said his responsibility was to ensure that the students were provided with guidance and information regarding UKVI student visa rules with minimum compliance issues.
He said that his department worked closely with the Department of International Development to facilitate international students, and Teesside University management had a very international vision, and students from across the globe choose Teesside as it was a very vibrant and student-friendly institution known for its diversity of courses, state-of-art infrastructure and high-quality teaching facilities. ‘Teesside offers a range of scholarships besides the tuition fee is highly competitive and the living cost is also affordable in Middlesbrough,’ he added.
Replying to a question, Mr Thomas said that he’s impressed with the hospitality given to him as the people here were very humble and welcoming. He said he was hoping to meet more Pakistani institutions and senior educationists towards finding collaborative arrangements with Teesside so that the Regional Office could take things forward as we are keen to work with more partners across the world. Unfortunately, the smart lockdown and restriction of movement due to smog, means he may not be able to meet some people so he will plan a return visit. He said that we are excited about the launch of our new campus in London, which was a longstanding demand of our students and the campus at London shall now provide an opportunity to our students to study and live in this commercial hub and vibrant capital city.
