Pakistan arrests 17 more Indian fishermen

SeventeenIndian fishermen were arrested as the Maritime Security Agency (MSA) seizedthree fishing boats on Thursdayfor trespassing into Pakistan's territorial waters.

According to the MSA, the Indianboats had crossed overapproximately800 kilometres inside Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

All the arrestedcrew memberswere hand over to the Docks police station forfurtherinvestigation and processing.

On March 31, the agency hadapprehended 59 Indian fishermen and seized 10 fishing vessels.

Thosearrests had come a week after Pakistani authorities had released 86 fishermen, which was the second time in a month as earlier, on March 6,86 more Indianfishermen had also been repatriated.

The goodwill gesture had been reciprocated in spirit byIndian authorities tooasPakistani fishermen held across the border had also been sent back.
