Former city mayor Mustafa Kamal, who now leads the Pak Sarzameen Party, urged the government on Thursday to ban his old political party, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), due to its allegedcollaboration with the Indian intelligence outfit,Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
Referring to the revelations made byformer British diplomatShahryar Khan Niazi in a television interview, Kamal asserted thateven if fivepercent of the allegations were true, the government had reason enough toofficiallyban the party.
Quoting Niazi, Kamal said there was evidence that there was a formal agreement between RAW and MQM.
“If the government believes we are in thewrong, we won’t speak on the matter. But, now its officials are also supporting our claims,” he said.
Kamal asked the government to clear its stance over the alleged MQM-RAW connection.“If we are liars, then file cases against us,” he demanded.
“It istime for the government to act against parties who have such blatantlinks with anti-state elements.”
He addressed MQM leader Farooq Sattar, saying that he should also listen to the tone of Altaf Hussain before pointing fingers at him for abusive language.
The former MQM stalwartdemanded a fairinvestigation into the matter to finally settlethesecontroversies once and for all.
