LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned till next week the proceedings on an intra-court appeal by former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. A two-member bench of the LHC led by Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry took up the appeal plea against nullifying the decision of discharging Elahi.

The petitioner took the plea that a Gujranwala magistrate had ordered discharging Elahi in an anti-corruption case. The Punjab government moved the LHC against the magistrate’s decision. A single bench of the LHC nullified the magistrate’s decision.

The petitioner told the court that the single bench’s decision ran contrary to facts. He said the court should set aside the single bench’s decision and uphold the decision of discharging Elahi in the corruption case. The court summoned the advocate general of Punjab on the next hearing for assistance and adjourned proceedings till next week.
