An alleged target killer was among three suspects arrested in raids conducted by the Sindh Rangers on Tuesday, while the police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) also apprehended a target killing suspect from the Brigade area.
As per a Rangers spokesman, teams of the paramilitary force conducted raids in Malir, North Karachi, and Liaquat Market and arrested three criminals, including an alleged target killer affiliated with a notorious militant wing.
The paramilitary force also recovered a hidden weapons cache from the Old Sabzi Mandi area.
CTD arrest
In a raid in the city’s Brigade area, a team of the Sindh police’s CTD apprehended a suspect allegedly involved in several target killings.
A statement issued by the department informed that a team had been deployed on a tip off to raid a hideout in Bizerta Lane, where they managed to arrest Tahir Malook alias Bengali after a shootout, while his accomplices managed to slip away.
When he was shifted for interrogation, Tahir, said to be an activist of a political party’s militant wing, apparently confessed to his involvement in arson cases and several target killings, including the murder of PPP official Nawazish Ali and another man named Mohammed Arshad.
Shop ownershot dead
A shop owner was killed on offering resistance during a robbery bid at his mobile shop in Sector 5/A-1 of North Karachi on Tuesday.
According to the police, two robbers barged in 20-year-old Shahzeb’s shop and as they tried to loot the shop on gunpoint, the man offered them resistance on which the robbers opened fire at him.
The culprits managed to escape the scene and the deceased was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital in a critical condition, where he breathed his last.
