Rawalpindi: The visitors at Commercial Market (Satellite Town) have appreciated the step to hire private security guards who not only provide secure environment but also help them get rid of gangs of beggars that often create awkward situation for the shoppers.

“The armed security guards never allow beggars to reach the busy area of the market that help the shoppers to visit shops in a comfortable environment. These guards have also resolved the issue of parking to some extent as they never permit rickshaws and taxi cabs to enter into main areas of the market,” said Tariq Hasan, a visitor at Commercial Market.

He said the trade unions of other markets and bazaars should follow this practice that would definitely provide a secure and cordial environment for the shoppers besides preventing rickshaws and taxi cabs from unethically occupying parking areas.

It is pertinent to mention here that there is a shortage of parking spaces in almost all markets and bazaars in Rawalpindi and gangs of beggars also including women and children start chasing shoppers as soon as they come out of their vehicles.

Shahzad Butt, a shopkeeper, said the local administration has directed the traders to hire private security guards due to threats of terrorism, adding “The visitors feel good when they see the security guards creating a better environment for them in the market.”
