She has reclaimed the BPS-20 post for the third time at the Supreme Court intervention.

During the recent hearing into a contempt plea of Dr Shahnaz challenging her removal from the post on April 7, 2015, despite its orders, a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim had ordered the removal of Dr. Ali Ahmad Kharal and appointment of a 'qualified' person in his place.

Dr Kharal was posted to the office just 15 days ago.

Complying with the orders, the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), which has the administrative control of the FDE, on Friday notified the transfer of Dr. Shahnaz from the National Institute of Science and Technical Education, Islamabad, as deputy director general to the FDE as director general ‘with immediate effect and until further orders.’

Earlier, she had got back the top FDE position first in April 2015 and then in May 2001 and on both times, on the orders of the Supreme Court, which found her plea against her ‘sudden, unwarranted’ removal from the directorate to be right.

The FDE has seen the change of over a dozen director generals over the last five years adversely affecting its performance, especially the management of more than 400 government schools and colleges in the capital city.
