Pakistan Peoples PartyChairmanBilawal Bhutto Zardari has fired a significantwarning shot at all party office-bearers, asserting that now onwards, anyelected public representative from thePPP who fails to deliver on ground would be removed from both, party and government, positions.
The word of warning came after Thursday’s meeting he chaired at Bilawal House with party legislators from Sindh. Following briefings over development efforts and party affairs in their respective constituencies, the PPP chief appreciated the legislative work being done in the Sindh Assembly to protect the rights of women and religious minorities, and other matters of public welfare.
Bilawal was also informed about public issues being faced in various constituencies, upon which he directed Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to adopt a comprehensive policy for resolution of such problems.
He also called for public service development works to be completed at the earliest. The PPP chief told the MPAs that they should attend the PA sessions on a regular basis, and also advised them to hold open ‘kutcheris’ in their respective areas.
Bilawal extended the assurance that he would himself establish contact with the general public and would attend kutcheris in every district along with the elected public representatives of the area.
The party chief stated that PPP’s reorganisation across the country would be completed soon and, in this regard, the party’s Central Executive Committee would finalise a schedule for membership drives that would help breathe new life into the party. He further directed the provincial and district chapters of the party to establish contact with disgruntled leaders and activists to woo them back into the party fold.
The PPP, said Bilawal, had rendered numerous sacrifices for the sake of democracy and vowed to never let democratic order in the country be derailed.
Any such conspiracies, he added, could only be foiled with the masses’ support.
Those in attendance at Bilawal House were CM Shah, PPP Ladies Wing chief Faryal Talpur, Sindh PA Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and others.
Sindh Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman, also the current spiritual leader of the Sarwari Jamaat, was not present, and MPA Makhdoom Rafik Zaman attended in his stead, said sources privy to the meeting.
