ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology Chairman Shahi Syed Wednesday expressed reservations about the agreement with Etisalat.
Chairing a meeting of the committee, he said the agreement was wrong, all conditions of Etisalat were accepted and valuable property was given to it but the agreement could not be completed on time.
He said no government preferred national interest to the agreement. The committee sought details of the agreement and observed that this episode should not be repeated in privatisation of the Pakistan International Airlines and Pakistan Steel Mills.
It called for protection of employees of these entities at the time of privatisation. Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman Khan said what employees have done with TIP was deplorable.
