Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader and Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal, who heads the PSP, had earlier announced that his fledgling party would stage its first political gathering on April 24, and had submitted a written application to the administration of the mausoleum.

Citing security concerns, officials of the mausoleum’s administration said they could not allow for such a rally to be held within the premises. According to Geo News sources, the administration has returned Kamal's application.

It remains to be seen whether PSP would reschedule its rally to a later date, or announce a different venue for the political gathering.
