As many as 45,000 citizens of Rawalpindi have been facilitated through e-Khidmat Markaz in one-year.
Punjab government launched the e-Khidmat Markaz to provide several government services under one roof on February 12, 2015 in Rawalpindi having 15 counters of different department’s including domicile, character certificate, driving license, revenue department, CNIC, e-Sahulat, motor vehicle registration, vehicle ownership, vehicle token tax, birth certificate, death certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, route permit and bank related issues. All public could concerning these issues are resolved under one roof.
The E-Khidmat Markaz has also launched its services here in Lahore and Sargoda.
The provincial government has planned to launch this facility in 8 big cities of Punjab including 1 in Gujranwala, 1 in Multan, 1 in Sahiwal, 1 in Faisalabad, 1 in Sialkot, 1 in Bahawalpur, 1 in Wazirabad, in Gujrat and 1 more in Rawalpindi.
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Muhammad Saif and Project Director Muhammad Waseem Bhatti told‘The News’that e-Khidmat Markaz is a corruption free department where public could resolve their issues without bribe.“We wanted to crush tout mafia as tout mafia is looting public with both hands,”he claimed.
The e-Khidmat Markaz (Rawalpindi) Manager Iftikhar Ali said that the system was first launched in Rawalpindi.“Around 45,000 citizens got the facility in 1-year from e-Khidmat Markaz,”he said adding we are strictly monitoring officials of all departments as how they are dealing with public. He said that public could resolve their issues at the markaz under one roof. “We will resolve all genuine issues of public within 8 days,” he claimed.
He said that once the issue is resolved they will send an SMS to the client to inform him or her about it. "We are opening a branch of National Bank of Pakistan so that people could submit government fee," he said. He claimed that it would be a corruption-free department where public could get their genuine issues resolved without paying even a single penny as bribe. But public should wait for their turn, he added. He said that around 300 to 500 people are visiting the markaz every day to resolve their genuine issues.
A large number of people are not aware of this facility and facing difficulties as per routine. People should come to the e-Khidmat Markaz located at the Potohar Town Building, he said.
The Punjab government has centralised all organisations to curb corruption, he said.
The staff of the e-Khidmat Markaz will guide people on every details like all required documents for any specific service, fee, payment procedure and timings.
To make the process further hassle free, an SMS will be sent to the citizens on their numbers to inform them about the status of their application. It would reduce corruption in government departments and discourage agents and clerks that swindle people by taking heavy money from them by assuring them to fulfil their different government tasks in less time.
