Rawalpindi: The residents of three union councils (UCs) have formed an action committee to develop unity and throw criminal elements allegedly involved in extortion and drug trafficking out of the area in coordination with the local police.
The action committee would keep vigil in the areas falling in the jurisdiction of UC-30, UC-31 and UC-32 and take measures on the complaints to be submitted by the residents. The committee members would coordinate with the local police and ensure no criminal elements operate in the areas including Glass Factory, New Amarpura and Chah Sultan.
Local Councillor Sanober Gul will head the committee that would also include social worker Nadeem Pasha. The residents will not only be able to submit their complaints but can also give their input before any decision by the committee.
According to Councillor Sanober Gul the absence of neighbourhood watch and community policing has led to an increase in the crimes due to which they have made an effort to get rid of the criminal elements.
