The SZABIST Social Sciences Society organised a seminar here on Wednesday on ‘China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.’ The seminar was aimed at discussing the importance of Gwadar Port and the strategic importance of Pakistan.

SZABIST Social Sciences Society spearheaded by the enthusiastic students of the Department of Social Sciences, Sayed Arif Hussain (chairman), Benish Zehra (vice chairman), Navroz Shah (general secretary), Aurangzaib Kakar (student council security head) orchestrated the proceedings.

SZABIST Social Sciences Society paid host to the prominent political figures of the country at the most awaited seminar of the month on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Asad Umar (MNA), Nafisa Shah (MNA) and Saleem Safi (journalist) chaired the event with their informative opinions about the economic corridor.

The keynote speaker for the event Saleem Safi, stated that the response of the corporate media and the political elite in Pakistan has been ecstatic. They are least interested in the betterment of the masses in country as their interests are mainly to get contracts and subcontracts in these projects from the Chinese conglomerates and add to their plunder. All political parties are espousing this project as a miracle that will change Pakistan’s fortunes. The Pakistani ruling classes and state aristocracy are accomplices yet again in this new bout of imperialist plunder of its people. The differences over the route are mainly to get this project to pass through routes that are more accessible to vying sections of Pakistan’s ruling class.

The session had everything to offer in terms of both political insight and candid remarks of the trio. The students and the faculty members both benefited from the session.
