ABBOTTABAD: As many as 68 doctors, including two professors, 38associate and assistant professors and 25 lecturers, wereappointed and promoted at the Ayub Medical College (AMC)Abbottabad.
The recommendations of the selection committee headed by Dean ofthe AMC were approved by the Board of Governors (BOG) of theinstitution.
According to the documents available with The News, 48 newappointments were made, which included 21 assistant professors and26 lecturers and one security officer.
The new lecturers included 18 for basic sciences, six fordentistry and one for Islamiyat.
Besides the lecturers, 21 assistant professors were appointed indifferent departments against the vacant posts.
Dr Ehaj Afzal, Dr Afsheen Sidiqui, Dr Salma Bukhari, M Adeel Alam,Dr Shagufta Naeem, Dr Romana Irshad, Dr Shazia and Dr Umair Khan,Dr Zeeshan Haroon, Dr Danish Zafar, Dr Khan Bahadur and Dr AzmatAli Shah, Dr Mehran Khan and Dr Jawad Hussan were appointed asassistant professors.
Beside these appointments, four cardiologists and two neurosurgeons were also appointed.
The BoG approved the promotions of two professors, including DrSumbal Tariq Professor of Pharmacology, and Dr Saleem Wazir,Professor of Community Medicines.
Twelve assistant professors have been promoted as associateprofessors that included Dr Tauqeer Iqbal ( Biochemistry), DrNuzhat Raza and Dr Bibi Munazza ( Physiology), Dr Fatima Shereen (Anatomy), Dr Nasir Ahmed, Dr Attiqur Rehman and Dr Nasir HussainShah Kazmi ( Medicine), Dr, Sajjad Ahmed, Dr Zaheeruddin Qureshiand Dr Haider Kamran ( Surgery), Dr Tahira Sajid ( ENT), Dr SaimaGillani ( Paediatrics).
Five doctors were promoted as assistant professors. They includedDr Iram Sarwar (Gynaecology), Dr Amir Zeb (Opthalmology), DrShehzad Najeeb (Paediatrics), Dr Muhammad Younis ( Orthopedics),and Dr Mattiullah Khan ( Cardialogy).
Ayub Medical College Dean Dr Shahid Sultan told this correspondentthat the BoG had approved the appointments and promotions.
He said that interviews for the posts were held on 2nd and 27thFebruary. He added that members of the selection committee included Medical Director, Director Finance, Deputy DirectorAdministration and concerned subject specialists. Dr Shahid Sultan said the BoG also gave approval to the additionalposts for neuro surgeons.
He maintained that one out of three posts of anesthetists couldnot be filled out due to objection raised by a doctor who hadpointed out anomaly in the advertisement.
