PESHAWAR: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) at a meeting on Friday approved 35 development projects with an estimated cost of Rs54933.733 million.
Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan chaired the meeting, which was attended by PDWP members and respective administrative secretaries, said a handout.
The projects included construction of Koto Hydro Power Project, development of renewable energy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, construction of 356 micro hydro power stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (35.6 MW), technical lab, launching of household survey for assessment of out-of-school children.
Construction of Guldheri Dam in Nowshera, construction of Jhangra Dam in Abbottabad, construction/improvement of canal patrol roads along Warsak and Peshawar canals systems, flood protection projects in Lower Dir and Lakki Marwat were also approved.
The meeting approved establishment of Government Girls Degree College Pharpur in Dera Ismail Khan, establishment of GDC Shakardara in Kohat, expansion and renovation of College for Commerce and Management Science in Lakki Marwat, establishment of degree colleges on need basis, purchase of furniture, machinery, equipments and books for colleges.
It also endorsed construction of hostel and office accommodation for coaches at Sports Complex in Dera Ismail Khan, establishment of Squash Complex in Peshawar and construction/renovation of treasury/district accounts offices were among the approved projects.
Construction of headquarters for Counter Terrorism Department at Nowshera, feasibility study and construction of Central Prison in Dera Ismail Khan on the existing site and assessment of residential requirements and designing of Judicial Complexes in selected districts and assessment of residential requirements of judges of PHC, acquisition of land for construction of judicial complexes in Swat, Tank and Kohat were also approved.The only housing sector’s approved project was detailed planning and designing of Sport City/Model Town Peshawar in Urmar Maira.
