As many as 21 candidates filed their nomination papers for by-polls in NA-245, a North Nazimabad constituency, whereas 36 nomination papers were filed for elections on PS-115, on Tuesday. The elections on the constituencies were scheduled to be held in April.
The national assembly seat fell vacant after Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s winner candidate Rehan Hashmi tendered his resignation after being elected as vice chairman in the December 5, 2015 local bodies polls, whereas the provincial assembly seat was vacated by MQM’s Arshad Vohra. He has been nominated for deputy mayor by the party. According to the schedule issued by the ECP, the papers would be scrutinized by March 12.
