Khet Kumar is a pioneer of K12 robotics education in Pakistan

het Kumar hails from rural Umerkot, a disadvantaged area with a literacy rate of 35.07 percent. He has worked hard for his career in computer sciences. Despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles, he has persevered and now holds a degree in computer sciences.

He is one of the few people in the Umerkot region who have used their knowledge and skills to promote robotics education. Kumar recognises the importance of robotics in the modern world and wants to ensure that underprivileged students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to learn about and pursue careers in the field.

From a young age, he has worked tirelessly to create programmes for K12 and take initiatives that would inspire and educate students. His efforts have helped increase the number of students interested in pursuing careers in robotics. His determination and dedication to education have made a positive impact on the future of robotics in the country.

Khet Kumar is passionate. During the initial days of his studies, he guided and taught many students free of charge so that they could one day contribute to promoting education in their areas. He has also helped students in choosing their careers and provided counselling at various stages.

Khet Kumar has become a seasoned professional in the field of robotics and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education and has made it his mission to bring robotics education to underprivileged students around the country. His vision is to create an audience who are not just users of technology but also the creator of it.

With over half a decade of experience in implementing, designing, managing and leading robotics and STEAM curriculum at public and private educational settings nationally and internationally, Kumar has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field.

He is currently heading the Robotics and STEAM Department at a well-known school network in Lahore. He has also been involved in developing similar programmes for students in other parts of the country. Even though he is based in Lahore, he remains in contact with many students and some professionals in Umerkot and Sindh.

Kumar has become a seasoned professional in the field of robotics and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education and has made it his mission to bring robotics education to underprivileged students around the country.

In addition to his work as a curriculum developer, Kumar has authored several books on science, robotics and STEAM education. These have been published by Marshall Cavendish. He is the first textbook writer for international K12 schools. For this he has received awards and appreciation from US Embassy, US Consulate General and Czech Schools.

Khet Kumar has founded two social enterprises, RedPiClub and Takhtee, which provide 21st Century learning skills to underprivileged students. Through these enterprises, he promotes robotics and coding education in underprivileged schools around the slums in Lahore and elsewhere.

His social enterprise work is not limited to his home country. He has collaborated with the international social enterprise ecosystem Impulso in Mexico to promote robotics and coding education for K12 students.

Kumar’s dedication to promoting robotics education and providing opportunities to underprivileged students has not gone unnoticed. His efforts have been recognised by the government and industry. Several organisations are supporting his work to expand the reach of robotics education in the country. He has presented his work at international conferences, including the University of British Colombia, Vancouver, Prague in Czech Republic and Hawaii International Forum, USA.

Khet Kumar is a pioneer in the field of K12 robotics education. He is the first person to integrate robotics as a subject in schools. His efforts have helped bring new opportunities to privileged as well as underprivileged students around the country. His work is making a real difference in the lives of these students and helping to pave the way for a brighter future for them.

During the 2022 floods, he helped orphaned students in Umerkot area and supported many students at various universities. He has always owned his identity and wants children across Pakistan to join the field of robotics and help improve local economies.
