An Indiana Jones TV series is on the horizon as Disney+ is looking to develop the franchise.
According to Variety on November 8, Disney has been actively looking to sprout a possibility of making a streaming show with Mouse House and Lucasfilm, based on the adventures of the iconic archeologist.
Sources further reveal to the outlet that Disney is looking for a writer so no plot details are available.
It is also not known whether the series will serve as a prequel or a spinoff of the film franchise or if the series would be connected to the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film.
The news of a potential revival comes afterHarrison Ford stated that he is "done playing the character" after the fifth film that is due out in 2023. Disney is exploring its options to keep the franchise working.
Should Disney choose to go forward with the TV series, it won't be the first one as The Young Indiana Jones Chroniclesaired for two seasons on ABC from 1992-1993, with four made-for-TV specials that aired between 1994 and 1996.
Disney+ has been working on many live-action Star Wars series along with the popular series The Mandalorian andHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Shows likeWillow and The Muppets Mayhem are also in the loop.
As for now, Lucasfilm or Disney's representative has not passed an official statement.
