Robert Pattinson opens up about Batman’s chances of crossing over into DCU

In the broader DC universe, Robert Pattinson already made waves with his dark, grounded Batman.

But ever since James Gunn began his DCU, fans have called for a crossover.

However, Pattinson said in an interview with Ladbible that it is quite difficult.

He explained that his version of the Caped Crusader is styled as dark, which is the opposite of characters like Superman in Gunn's DCU.

Driving his point home, Pattinson said, “I mean, just for eight months in the dark, and you literally have no conception of being connected to anything in the world.”

This made him, the actor said, "difficult to even maintain your sanity."

Pattinson then joked his Batman is so serious that he would role-play Skyler Gisondo’s Olsen in Superman, "more serious".

The actor further quipped that Superman was filmed in Atlanta; Batman, meanwhile, was shot at a studio in Watford.

“It’s so funny, because Gotham is Watford. It’s a shed in Watford. There’s something so destabilising about when you're just, you're in the dark the whole time."

However, Pattinson did not rule out a future crossover.

The Batman: Part II is in theatres on Feb. 18, 2028.
