LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday ordered the removal of four acting university vice chancellors from different universities.
According to details, Justice Shahid Kareem announced the decision to remove all four acting vice chancellors citing the reason that by law, in universities, the appointment of acting vice chancellors was not allowed. The court was hearing a case over appointment of vice chancellors.
The judge ordered all four acting vice chancellors to be removed and the most senior professors to be appointed as acting vice chancellors in their place. He also directed the HEC to issue a fresh advertisement announcing the appointment of permanent vice chancellors in all four universities.
It was also stated in the decision it was the right of the HEC to appoint vice chancellors instead of the provincial governments.
