ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will attend the Heart of Asia (HoA) ministerial conference being held in India this weekend, it has been confirmed.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and briefed him on the conference.
“Adviser Sartaj Aziz sought guidance from PM on the Heart of Asia Conference in the context of improving peace and reconcilition [process] in Afghanistan,” the PM’s Office said in a statement issued here.
The prime minister instructed the adviser to make all the necessary arrangements in this regard.
Heart of Asia ministerial conference is being held in Amritsar this weekend (Dec 3-4).
The Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process (HoA) was founded on November 2nd, 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. It provides a platform for sincere and results-oriented regional cooperation by placing Afghanistan at its center, in recognition of the fact that a secure and stable Afghanistan is vital to the prosperity of the Heart of Asia region.
The participants include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and United Arab Emirates.
