ANKARA: The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has reaffirmed support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people and asked for resolution of the dispute, in accordance with UN resolutions.
The declaration, issued after the 36th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Conference (PUIC) in Ankara, supported struggle of Kashmiri people for freedom from Indian occupation.
Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, represented Pakistan and highlighted the gross and systematic violations of human rights in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoK).
He reiterated the UN Human Rights Commissioner's call for sending a Fact Finding mission to the IoK, and pressed for enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their fundamental rights including the inalienable right to choose their own future in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
The Speaker NA blasted the Indian attempts to equate the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people with terrorism. The member states were provided evidences of Indian atrocities in the region.
