ISLAMABAD: Director General Intelligence Bureau (IB) on Tuesday told a Senate committee that the agency was not tapping phone calls of politicians. He, however, said
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) laws provide legal grounds for phone tapping.
The IB chief was briefing a meeting of Senate’s Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat chaired by Senator Talha Mehmood.
The committee has summoned PTA officials in the next meeting for briefing on laws pertaining to phone tapping.
The meeting also sought names and details of all the agents of Indian intelligence Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) detained in Pakistan.
The committee highly appreciated the performance of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for courageously fighting the enemies of the country.
The meeting was held here at parliament House in chair of Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood chairman of the Committee. He said that due to successful operations by the LEAs number of terrorists activities had been reduced in the country.
