ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday assured Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong that his party supports the government over the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
During a meeting with the ambassador, Khan said the government of Pakistan should take Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s reservations over the project seriously. He said his protest plan was aimed at ensuring accountability instead of hindering progress, according to Geo News.
Besides presenting PTI’s views over the multi billion dollars project, the PTI chairman discussed with ambassador bilateral issues.
Expressing good wishes for the completion of the project, The PTI Chairman appreciated the CPEC and called it a gamechanger.
The CPEC is a collection of projects currently under construction at a cost of over 45 billion US dollars, intended to rapidly expand and upgrade Pakistani infrastructure as well as deepen and broaden economic links between Islamabad and Beijing.
